RAE LAKES LOOP (COUNTER CLOCKWISE)
2025-10-10
My sister and I set out to tackle an epic cross-country adventure from Glen Pass to Gardiner Basin in Kings Canyon. But when the weather had other plans, we pivoted—and ended up hiking the incredible Rae Lakes Loop instead (Counter Clockwise). This iconic alpine route along the John Muir Trail delivered unforgettable experiences, serene lakes, and one of the more brutal western approaches to the Sierra Nevada. And we descended the stunning Paradise Valley, making the trip truly memorable despite the change in plans.

DEADMAN CANYON VIA TABLELANDS
2025-09-12
This was a failed solo trip to Glacier Ridge that devolved into a four day trip through Tablelands, Deadman Canyon and up and over Big Bird Lake by the notorious Phil Arnot Pound. I hadn't done a solo trip in a few years so it was nice to dust off my cross country legs through the Sierra High Country across some remote areas.

EVOLUTION VALLEY VIA FLORENCE LAKE
2025-07-16
The Evolution Valley is one of my favorite sections of the JMT. I only visited it once before 15 years prior, but I remember loving the area. It holds a special place in my heart because I had resupplied at Muir Trail Ranch for the final time and continued on the last leg of my adventure. This time I was with my girlfriend, Sam and we got to enjoy the beautiful area together. It was relatively challenging with 10 mile days over four days.

REDWOOD MEADOW GROVE VIA TIMBER GAP
2025-06-06
What was intended as a six day Kern River hot spring trip turned into a four day out and back due to snow. I was a little too eager to start the season and too much snow prevented us from accessing Sawtooth Pass or Franklin Pass. We still had a good time exploring north of Mineral King to the Cliff Creek and Redwood Meadow Grove area.

TABLELANDS VIA MOOSE LAKE
2024-10-19
This three night loop started in Wolverton Picnic Area, Alta Lakes Trailhead. We meant to take the High Sierra Trail, but ended up diverging to an unnamed pass above the tarn at 10,800ft. Then we explored the Tablelands area and cam out via Pear Lake.
